For hundreds of years Tokaji wine was a precious item on royal and imperial tables. It was primarily present at central and eastern European courts, and of course still is important at state events in Hungary.

In Hungarians are proud to mention that french king Louis XIV referred to tokaji as “kinger of wines and wine of kings”. And although this quote is not supported by any piece of hard evidence, at least according to my knowledge, the following menu cards support Louis claim and highlight the prestige of tokaji wine.
